When West Rome Baptist set a goal for major renovations, I was thrilled to help create a promotional piece. For one, I really enjoy whenever there’s an opportunity to place something physical into people’s hands. But the real fun is in the creation options – color schemes, typography, sizing, imagery choices, and let’s not forget the smell of a fresh print. Call me strange, but there’s nothing else quite like it.
The intent was to create something that would engage constituents with important information and visual appeal, showcasing the why and the how. Since the church’s mission statement encompassed a “connection” thread, it was decided to use similar terminology to theme the campaign. The cover featured a drone image of the pastor and church members praying on the downtown pedestrian bridge in order to convey a connection between the church’s past and it’s proposed future.
The church had seen few physical updates over many years, so incorporating artist renderings helped to draw massive visual appeal, and featuring member testimonies kept the church’s future dreams cemented with it’s present day.
The final result was incredibly successful as Phase 1 was completed – DEBT FREE – only a year and a half later.
After two decades of working in a local church environment in various roles, the length of my clientele list is, well…it sits at one. However, the plethora of design jobs that arrived on my desk were many: print, social, book design, web design, apparel, announcements for screens, banners – just about any design a growing church might need, my hands were often in the middle of it.
