While spending 20 years in various positions at West Rome Baptist, one thing became a constant: if something needed a “professional” print job, it was usually sourced through my office – banners, a multitude of series-themed worship cards (handouts to each person in Sunday worship attendance), room signs, shirt designs, event promos, the list goes on and on.
The experience this allowed me was invaluable. Over time, it taught me how to balance graphical and textual content, choose fonts, color schemes and more.
The actual printing was handled in-house and also outsourced to a local print shop, depending on the job needs and the on-site printer capabilities. But no matter the scope or the intended audience, I found myself always ready to bury myself in the minutia of making sure it was done just right.
After two decades of working in a local church environment in various roles, the length of my clientele list is, well…it sits at one. However, the plethora of design jobs that arrived on my desk were many: print, social, book design, web design, apparel, announcements for screens, banners – just about any design a growing church might need, my hands were often in the middle of it.
